Yes, if you are using the 360 to power the drive, you will have to pull the power cable from the back and plug it back in. This is where DVD connectivity kits come in handy. :)
Where exactly can I find a kit? Are there any local places such as the franchise stores, or is it something I would have to order online?
Online. I got mine from modchip.ca
There are other stores though. You would be looking for the CK3 or Xtractor PRO.
Here is the CK3 PRO. CK3 PRO

Well money is tight so I really cannot justify spending $50 on that, when it really is not NEEDED.
As for if I have a good key just send the erase again. I tried doing that, maybe it was because I did not have a good key, but after the first time it failed, having the drive powered on and connected to my SATA bogged my system down like you wouldn't believe.

When I plugged it into the 360 it returned E 64 and I had one red light. Guessing there was no firmware or something)
As long as you got a good DVDkey, you can fix the 360. All you need to do is re-send the Lite-ON Erase and write the firmware.
Like I said when I tried to resend the Lite-On Erase, as soon as I powered up my drive my computer was bogged down all to hell, I could barely do anything. So if this happens again, is there anything else I would be able to do, or I would just have to deal with it being insanely slow (Taking minutes just to be able to click a single button)

Make sure your key doesn't look like this: 140F0F1011B5223D79587717FFD9EC3A
After I get my key, are there files I could send to a friend or something online that they could try testing it with? Would I just send him the Dummy.bin or what?

The only way you can test to make sure the key is good is to spoof the info you just got to a BenQ or another drive. If it plays a game, your key is good.

Get the light version for 35 dollars and get a serial usb adapter. I have the pro and the usb interface tends to fry so I had to use serial anyways.
Consolesource.com has a via PCI card for 15 dollars.
Oh btw CS has flat rate shipping which even though some things may look more expensive they are still cheaper when you factor in the shipping.

To Leerage:
Thank you for posting the tutorial, as it is a lot more specific than the JungleFlasher tutorial. However, I'm having a bit of a problem.
After following your tutorial word for word (literally) several times, I have consistently turned up the same result. For whatever reason, I keep getting a "failed" message when following the tutorial.
The following is a log of what results:
---------------------------------------------
Sending LO83info request to I/O port 0xEFE0

LO83info extraction Failed!
---------------------------------------------
I am doing the following steps, based on your tutorial:
1. Open and run JungleFlasher.exe.
2. Click on "DVDKey32" tab.
3. Click on "LO83info" option.
4. On the first prompt, I power on the Xbox 360 (with my Lite-On PLDS DG-16D2S connected and detected via SATA port on my PC's motherboard).
5. I hit the eject button to bring the tray all the way out.
6. I cut power to the DG-16D2S by pulling the power cable from its rear.
7. I push the tray in so that it sticks out only halfway.
8. I click "okay" on the prompt.
9. On the second prompt, I hit the eject button to bring the tray back to closed position.
10. I hit the eject button again to bring it back out to full open position.
11. It reports, "L083info extraction failed!"
Am I doing something wrong?
Any help or insight would be most appreciated.

Oh btw I had trouble with the spear and I ended up getting some 30 AWG wire, striping it and sticking it in the hole and touching the spear to that.

I just learned that I need some sort of "probe" or "spear" device, due to the fact that the key can't be dumped through the software method alone. 'Anyone know where I can buy one?

That depends. Do you have the 74850C Lite-ON or the 83850C Lite-ON?

Remove the driver. Remove viamraid.sys @ C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers folder.

Thanks for the tutorial op, was going great until I got near the end and the xbox seemed to quiten down as though it had gone to sleep.
I was at the point of liteon erase and I had just confirmed the 2 yes's and needed to power cycle, I don't have a connectivity kit so I pulled the power out of the back of the drive and back but I may have been too slow.
--------------------------------------------
Sending Lite-On-Erase request to port 0x8880
..............
Drive returned Status 0xD0
....................
Device Intro failed!
---------------------------------------------
I was hoping I would be able to do it again but the drive won't recognize anymore, is it fixable or is it screwed.

This is fixable. Just connect the drive back up to the SATA port and make sure you have the right I/O port selected. Resend the Lite-ON erase and then disconnect and reconnect the power when the dots go across.

COM ports have nothing to do with the .sys file.

Thanks for the reply, it seems now to be recognizing the drive again at the beginning, would I be ok starting again from the beginning or doing the step you suggested first.

Since you already obtained the info, you can start from where I just suggested.

Thanks, I got through it now with no errors this time.
Just started it up for the first time since I got it and was going to test it on a backup I made of an original I got with the box.
However when I inserted the disc it said I needed to do an update to play this game. I just clicked no but I guess that shouldn't have happened if the flash was successful.
