I had an xbox 360 with Samsung MS28 working perfectly.

Connected MS28 drive to onboard SATA (Intel ICH5).

Manually installed PortIO32.

Ran JungleFlasher.0.1.67.Beta.

Clicked "Sammy Unlock", clicked "Yes".

Then clicked "Read" and then saved the bin file.

Now my drive key is 0000000000000's

I've not tried to flash the drive yet. WTF???

I tested the xbox with a game and it says the game is a DVD and says please insert into an xbox360 or something when I try to play it.

Is the drive bricked? What can I do to restore the drive key back?

I've tried opening the saved bin file with JungleFlasher but the key is still 00000's.

Thanks.

You must have inadvertently flashed it without spoofing the key to the new firmware.

There is a way to get the key off of the motherboard via a method called JTAG, which you can read about at free60.org, but it is technical and complicated.

I am sorry to say, but you are sort of screwed.

You need to find somebody who performs key recovery services from motherboards.

Thanks qwert99.

I don't see how I've flashed it. I takes a minute or two to flash the drive which it has not had the opportunity to do.

The game you tested it with -- was it an original or a backup? Sometimes backups will read as DVDs if your drive's laser is crapping out on you.

Do you have acces to another PC with a nForce mobo or the recommended via card, you could try dumping the firmware again to see if you dvd key is naffed

It was an original game. Also tried another too.

Almost certainly a bad key in your drive, then.

It is possible that you did not do an entire flash, but instead only flashed the key sector of the drive. That would result in the same problem at a much faster speed in the program.

Sorry, wish I could be of more help. You will almost certainly need to pull the DVD key from the motherboard. Unfortunately, that is a topic that Afterdawn won't be much help for.

I strongly recommend seeking help from the 360 homecrew crowds instead, as this pertains to their set of specific knowledge more than this forum. http://www.free60.org is a good starting place.

Thanks mate.

I found this tutorial:

Hope this helps others in my boat.

Just so I know, is there any other button in JF which could have written to the drive?

In the end someone was able to extract the drive key from the original FW that was saved by JungleFlasher. I think JungleFlasher screwed up and that it was possible to get the key from another place in the FW.
