First off i did skim the sticky treads but the guide for flashing is from 2007.. perhaps a bit out of date? is it still viable?

ok so i bought a arcade system from my friend for pretty cheap, and now i want to flash it.

i know NOTHING about this but i have been watching a few videos/reading up on it for the last day or so excuse my noobness

It seems that there is more then one way to flash your 360. ive seen some videos on youtube claiming they can flash their 360 WITHOUT opening it up etc. which would be ideal for me if possible...

either way they all seem to need an SATA cable, the one in the stick links to the American newegg site, and i am in Canada sooo

will any of these work for flashing my arcade 360? or do i need to buy that specific one??

1) Do i need to buy a HDD before i flash? (i am flashing the DVD drive though right?)

2) it seems like there are different types of drives and they are flashed in different ways? how do i tell which drive i have

find out which drive you have, then read the jungleflasher tutorial, then come back and ask more detailed questions.

Will do, i realize that my questions arent really specific, but certainly there are ones that can be answered now.

Such as which of the SATA cables i can use (theres like 10 and i cant tell the difference between them)

In terms of what i need to buy/order to flash/burn.
SATA cables
Duel layer DVD burner
duel layer dvds

anything else? when i actually have time to get started i dont want to be missing something important.

and when you read the tutorials on how to flash your drive and copy/burn games, you will find the answers to all these questions and many more that have been answered over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Dont think there is much difference between the SATA cables. I have just used old ones from a p4 system with no problems.
