i don't know if this information has been figured out yet, but i have found a way to open the 360 without breaking the seal. It is very simple, the trick is not to take of the seal from the side but from the middle. You must open the back first, then on the front push down in the middle of the 360 next to the seal, it will slowly come off with the seal intact. Have done this 3 times succesfully.

Hair dryer or heat gun will do the trick.

this however you don't need any tools, and only take a couple of secs. but if other things work, cool.

Are you talking paper warranty seals or the silver strip warranty seals?

are there that many silver stickers ones around anymore? almost all of the ones i have done lately are the paper ones, and you dont even have to take them off to open the case, just bend back the corner and youre good to go.

So I tried this with my warranty sticker and it got ripped EVERY SO SLIGHTLY. It's extremely passable I think but if I send it in do you think it would get rejected?

i sent in a 360 that was cut with an xacto knife. Granted, it was clean, but still completely cut, and I was still sent a refurb, no questions asked.

Sorry to deviate away from the topic at hand :P
But!
I was wondering if I could borrow a friends xbox and take his warranty sticker, slap in on my box, and then when it comes back swap back his warranty sticker on to his box. (or whatever sticker I get back)

when my first x-box had the dreaded 3 lights i sent it in and received a refurbished one back, i believe i had damaged the sticker ever so slightly. I don't think they do a hardcore check to see if the seal is broken. as trading stickers goes heck why the hell not. just don't ruin your friend warranty--- of what the hell go ahead many places charge as little as $30 to fix.

I just sent one xbox in with the wax paper still stuck on the back, and they're fixing it now (I couldn't remove the paper from the back, so I just glued it on).

usually the one thats stuck to the side that is screwed to the metal housing. but lately, i've just been taking the entire sticker off. it takes just about the same amount of time and i know it wont get damaged that way.

Hey sorry to bump an old topic. Question about the sticker: Is it better to put the sticker back on after flashing a drive or like keep it on a wax paper? Since firmware gets updated and I'll have to open the console probably more than once, won't the sticker lose it's adhesiveness over time?

I leave them off until I sell it or get it repaired, it's easier than taking it off constantly. Just be sure to keep it in a safe place.

So it will come off easily when needed if I tag it on some wax paper?

Yeah, just heat it the sticker up a bit when you take it off the wax paper.
