How many threads have you guys seen of this issue with it reporting back Bad serial data...

There is something with these drives that do not make them appear to be all the same apparently because many people have different results with the same drive...

I canot get this drive to EVER dump a key. I have officially tried now for 10hrs and 13 min so far with no success.. on just key dumping so u see how frustrating this is.

I own CK3 pro with Probe v1.

I can still flash Hitachi, Samsung, BenQ, and another 74850C drive but not this one...

this drive has never been flashed before.

I have both via 6421A and onboard SIS chipset which works very well too.
Port IO drivers exist in Device manager.

Using Jungle Flasher v1.55 BETA.
DVDKEY reports-
proper port for Lite-on drive.
Com4 = Prolific serial bla bla bla
Using winXP SP3

Probing R707 - green light comes on when i stick it in and goes out when i pull it out so my device isn't damaged.

I turn on CK3 with BLUE light. Eject tray, pres eject again, SHUT OFF power at 30-50% open, wait 5 seconds, then turn CK3 back on.

Probe R707, NO go.
I have also tried forcing Vendor intro.. Status NEVER changes when i rapidly turn on and turn off.

I have also tried Mode B(RED light), nothing...

I have tried both chipsets (via and SIS) and 2 separate SATA cables.

USB cable works or else it wouldnt be showing up in the com port plus i use it for other drives...

Nobody knows what is going on.... it's just this drive...

Like i have said before that nobody else will say-

Apparently some 74850C drives are unreadable... Because of this.. they are unflashable... I have done a 74850C before fine but this is using invisible firmware..

It's unnecessary to cut traces on this model, therefore, not going to do it.

Unless some expert out there has seen this exact same problem and knows the reasoning, by all means, let me know...

First off, get the correct version of JF, that one is old. Bad serial data is always:

1.) Probe doesn't work, maybe in backwards
2.) Proper Com port not selected
3.) usb cable not plugged in

If this doesn't work, you should cut the traces. Cutting the traces is the best and proper way since it's the ONLY way to get a full dump. Stop being a noob and do it the right way.

What firmware does JF see it as? Just because the case says it's a 7series, means nothing.

I realize u are trying to help so dont take this the wrong way but why does MANY people say the COM port may be incorrect when it specifically says Prolific usb to serial?

And USB has to be plugged in or else the Prolific usb to serial drivers would NOT be shown in device manager and jungleflasher...

v1.55 shows Lite-On to ba a 7485 so casing is right.

Probe does work as described earlier...

Light comes on and goes off as normal when probing r707 and i have recently done a 74850c drive(bout 1 month ago).
This isn't my board so cutting traces is not permitted.

And about getting newer version of jungleflasher.. Everytime i go to the site to get it... after waiting 60 seconds for the download link to show, it redirects me to wait again, and again.. and again.. I have this problem with running these types of redirects with my 64bit browsers so i cannot get the newer versions of jungleflasher...

Cutting the traces isn't hard and sounds to me like your only option since you are having issues the 707 method. Full dumps should be done on all liteons anyway.

ok, i'll refer the info..

I do have one more quick question for ya...

When was this trace cutting technique become the norm for Lite-ons?

Back when ixtreme 1.5 was new, that's probably when i stopped keeping track all the time of what was happening in the xbox scene...

I know LT+ is coming soon but i never really pay attention as much as i used to and am new to the requirement to trace cutting.

Just curious as to how long it's been recommended to do this method.

it has always been recommended to cut traces on a liteon, its the only way to get the laser calibration, it sounds to me that your drive has been flashed before, and if it has LT on it, the only way to get it is to cut the traces, if it has an earlier version of ixtreme then you do not even need to use the probe, you should try all your options. do the tray half closed, and then just hit read, it may work, everything is worth a try. i have flashed maybe 60 of the exact same model and once i learned the proper way i never had any problems.
