um ya, if its a V2 drive..
from the dae its a V1 drive, SO NO V cuts are required!!!!
and yes like ALL FW dumps A FULL IS REQUIRED
dont know if your retarded or just happy posting...
you should read the whole post and not just the tittle.
o' and yes I DO KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No you don't. All Lite-on's require a full dump. You are giving false information and he will burn out his laser if he listens to you.

FJO372,
Don't take everything I say as gospel. I'm just briefing over this topic, you should definitely see what other people have to say by reading as much material that you can before flashing.
By the way, if you remove the laser ribbon from the cable while flashing, the laser will not experience duress during the flash.

Modking30, I have an June 09 83450C that is my main console, flashed using the dummy.bin method and have been going strong for about a year. A 10 dollar laser replacement doesn't frighten me. I've used 1.6, 1.61, and LT with no problems on xbox live. Reads just as well as it did on the first day I ever got it.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

LOL, we'll see come november. I'm simply telling users how to dump their drives the correct and most efficent way. NOT saying the dummy.bin method doesn't work. It's just not the correct way. Most people that try the dummy.bin method are affraid of soldering.

Are you saying c4eva and his team have it all wrong?

At no time does c4eva ever say the dummy.bin method is all you need. At no time does he ever say the dummy.bin method dumps the laser calibration either. You want to prove that wrong?

No, I'm not insinuating that the dummy.bin method is the best way to flash any console, but I am saying that from what we know it seems to be sufficient and even supported by the very people who write the program you use to flash consoles.
EVERYONE that modifies their console is taking the risk of being banned. Some people only have certain tools at their disposal.
There was a whole of people last banwave that thought they had taken all the precautions to avoid being banned. That wasn't the case. The average person flashing a console can easily buy a used console for less than the total cost of buying all these tools THAT MAY keep them from getting banned on live.
I have used this method on my own console, as well as about half a dozen friends' consoles, and we're all doing fine.
But hey. thank Ed for me for the vampire and executor I got a couple weeks back...for me, those tools make sense as I use them daily.

i as under the impression that a whole dump was required due to the new FW. people where getting bad reads with the laser. but this was only on the V2 drives.
also the full dumps is reqiured if you actually update to LT 1.1 because its (not literally) spoofed to the new 9 series drive. thats why when you updated to the first LT people where freaking out because they had to get stock FW if they didnt have the OG keys available. not the CFW but the OG
O' and with the JF if it freezes they keys are .....
or you could use dosflash but the last time i used it it took a few times, just to be safe as a windows & and former XP i would disable the driver for the 6421 card. run everything as admin.
dont know what to say about the laser thing, i have a arcade console from before prev ban wave flashed with 1.61 then survived the wave, went to LT and realized it had no 800 fw .so went back to 1.61. havent had any dvd probs, on any console.. and havent had any complaints. but these are all first edition lite0ns.

Again, I teach the RIGHT way, not the "jimmy rig yes it will work way" oh and for a short period. Anyway, you guys are all good members, I never said the dummy.bin method wouldn't work. I'm simply stating facts.

Haha well this thread is getting pretty big, thanks all for the replies from everyone again, including ModKing30's advice. However, assuming my VIA 6421A card arrives tomorrow (which it should) I am going to use the dummy.bin method, the reasons for this being the fact I don't want to have to use a soldering iron unless I have to and the two down-points to using the dummy.bin method are that the laser might get damaged over time and it only costs £10 to replace (clearly it doesn't seem to have affected MrGreasers Xbox 360, who's been using the dummy.bin method for over a year nor did miketrev mention this affected his drive). Secondly you state that it increases the likelihood of getting banned on Xbox live, this again doesn't seem to have affected MrGreaser and I've already got another Xbox 360 that's not been modded which I'll be using for playing online most of the time. I will however use this to play online sometimes assuming I don't get banned straight away for using the Xbox as the power method when flashing, so basically it's not the end of the world if it does get banned eventually as the majority of the playing I'll be doing on this console will be offline. Out of curiosity if you were to disconnect the ethernet as soon as you stop playing online would this decrease the likelihood of being banned?
So keeping in mind my situation:
* Xbox 360 DVD-Drive: Lite-on DG-16D2S-09C with FW: 83850C V1.
* PC Operating System: Windows 7, Ultimate Edition, 64-bit.
* VIA 6421A SATA Card & Powering the DVD-Drive via the Xbox 360.
Would it be best for me to try using jungleflasher? recover the keys a number of times, cross-check them and then flash with LT firmware?
Thanks again! I really don't know what I'd do without the advice on this website!

That's because they aren't banning right now. Wait for the big next ban wave.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to update this thread for future reference. Yesterday I successfully flashed my Lite-on drive (which was a V1 83850c drive) with iXtreme LT V1.1 using the latest Jungleflasher available with no problems at all. I just wanted to especially thank MrGreaser, RangerRi and miketrev as well as all the other members here for giving useful advice. I'd also like to recommend this youtube video (which helped me through the flashing process) to anyone who wants to flash there v1 83850c without having to solder their DVD-Drive:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxWgd8R06lo
I'd also recommend anyone who uses this method installs their games to the hard-drive (assuming they have an Xbox 360 with a hard-drive) to ensure minimum wear and tear on the DVD-Drive as Modking mentions that laser-calibration is not dumped using this method so you'll want to save your laser by working it as little as possible.
