So I have been working on this for the last 2 or 3 days now with no success. I'm trying to flash my Lite-On DG162DS, but I cannot extract the key. I get ****Warning*** Serial Data Is Bad in JF. In ExtractorReader it says something like "Error sending ATAPI".

-I built my own probe twice using this stickied tutorial.
-I have an ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE with onboard SATA (I read in the forums someone has successfully flashed a lite-on with this mobo).
-I have JungleFlasher 1.64 with PortIO32 installed.
-Both JF and ExtractorReader pick up my 360 drive.
-I only have COM1 and I did the HyperTerminal test (Successful).
-360 drive is hooked to SATA1.

I'm not sure what to do...I've read the forums and tried tons of different methods for extraction, but nothing works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are getting the tray in half way correct?

As a last resort, since you are using the serial connection, you could boot to DOS and use DVDkey that way. I have a tutorial linked in my signature on how to make a bootable USB drive. Here is the link for DVDkey v1.2 for DOS.

Yes, as far as I can tell the tray is correct.
I hit the eject button. Unplug the power from the back of the drive. Push tray half way in. Plug power back into the back of the drive. (XBOX 360 stays on the entire time).

I just formatted the flash drive...So I put the DVDkey program on that and boot the PC in MS-DOS mode...then open the DVDkey program from the drive? Thank you.

The DVDkey DOS program is designed to use COM1, which is what you are using. So you would put the dvdkey.exe on the USB drive a boot to it. Get the drive in half tray status and you will need to know what your SATA port that your Lite-ON is connected to. Example: Mine is EC00 so you would type:

dvdkey.exe EC00

Start probing the R707 hole and hit enter. Hopefully you will retrieve the info.

It said the INQUIRY.bin and IDENTIFY.bin saved, but then it said "I'm sorry, it did not work. SEGA: 54 Nothing received from COM port. "

If you look on top of the Lite-ON on the label in the left hand corner, what is the firmware revision?

So since I was able to save two of the .bin files, does that mean my probe is working correctly?

You will still need to get the key. Normally there is the Key.bin, Inquiry.bin, and Identify.bin. And with Win32 programs, they will create a dummy bin.

I believe the Inquiry and Identify are dumped via SATA. Is it a possibility they key-reader is no good. I know you said you tested it out though.

Well I didn't actually test the key extractor...I just did the hyperterminal test which I think just tests the COM port. How can I test the key extractor? I read something about using a multimeter but I wasn't able to find anything that explained how to do it...

I also tried to connect the two parts on R707 that you can solder...I used a small flathead screwdriver and I tried taping a small piece of a paper clip to it...both didn't work...They came up with the same errors as if I used the key extractor/spear...

I've also been reading something about swapping the RX/TX points...What are the RX/TX points and how do you swap them?

Not quite for sure what exactly swapping the points are. I'm guessing it is an issue with the probe. I see you made a post in bhetrick's guide. So maybe he will shed some light.
