liteon calibration data: myth or reality?

Ok, so various people have told me that in order to have a perfectly safe LT experience, i would have to d a full dump of my liteon. They said that there is certain calibration data that is stored in the ofw that is essential to be safe on xbl.

I've already dumped the fw, but thats not the point. I was wondering if there was actually any truth to this or if it was all just speculation/crap?

Yes, speculation as far as I know.

However, even without the original dump of that embedded data, you can re-create the data within JF by using the bar code sticker on the drive itself if you are so inclined.

My Lite-On never had that data present and was banned in the last wave. Whatever that means.

if you have the old dump of the liteon (all files) and used those files to create LT-CFW wouldnt that be safe?
