LiteON drive question

Hi, just bought a 360 and was reading the tutorial on how to flash a LiteON drive (8 series).
It says there is a chance of the key getting corrupted but still looks good. What is the chance of this happening?
I don't have another drive to to spoof check.
But if I do buy another drive off ebay, such as a BenQ, can I simply flash the BenQ and use it with my xbox (with the extracted firmware key from the LiteON)

As long as your key doesn't look like this: 

140F0F1011B5223D79587717FFD9EC3A
You should be fine.

What about buying a new BenQ drive (i think this one is easier to flash) would that work or no???

You could spoof the BenQ to test, but you should go ahead and flash the Lite-ON. You could use the BenQ as a standalone 0800 drive to rip games.

Thanks for your help so far Leerage, but my question is whether it is possible to use the BenQ drive completely with the extracted key from LiteON, without using the LiteON ever again.

And also if u know any firmware that doesn't check for stealth patches? I won't connect to live and just want something that will play all discs without them stealth patched.

my understanding is that the firmware on the dvd drive doesnt check for stealth patches, that is just a precaution for people that used to to be able to play xbox live with a modded console. good luck with your project!
