This is my problem; I bought my Xbox about a year ago or so, and after a while I started to get the infamous, "Open Tray" error whenever I try to play a game or watch a film. So I decided to have a look around the web to see if I could find a permanent fix, instead of opening and closing the tray many times until it works, but I can't seem to actually find a good solution.
I decided to buy a new drive, so I bought a BenQ VAD6038 drive, to see if I could replace my Liteon drive.
I was wondering if someone could guide me to fix this open tray error or replacing the Liteon with the BenQ. In my browse around the web I saw about turning one of the screws behind the laser slightly to the left.
I haven't tried to flash my drive or any kind of modding whatsoever.
I'm new to all of this and I don't really know what causes all the problems and stuff. I will try and look up how to change the laser, hope it isn't too much of a problem.
I also looked at the spoofing option as well, but I think that is too much work, and I think that I would do have to do things that are beyond my knowledge on this matter.
I've just done the laser swap; investigated for a bit, and after some research I found that some pages say that there is some un-soldering to do; I didn't have to do any, by just seeing I could tell that the laser could come off straight away. I've tested my Xbox with pretty much all of my games and they all seem to be read straight away.
Fingers crossed, that this is a permanent fix and that I don't get the "Open Tray" error again. I've cleaned the laser as well just in case.
Thanks everyone for the help.
