liteon home made kit switches?

im going to make a connectivity kit today for my liteon, if i want to add an eject button to it, iv read i need to put it on inbetween ground and pin 3, does that mean remove pin 3 and add the switch onto this and run the other wire to a grounding point?
also if i added a power switch to cycle power, would i just add this to the 12v pin? thanks
