So it's not what you guys are going to want to hear, but I'll bring you up to speed on the news so far.
1.61 for 7xxxx and 8xxxx liteons is no news yet. Still in dev work. For the newest liteons (the 9xxxx series) we are in trouble. Right now, the drive is undumpable. Firmware has been ready for about the past two months, but it's not possible to get the key off of it.
Possibly installing cygnos and doing complete dumps will hopefully give some sort of ability to dump it, but right now there is absolutely no luck.
Hopefully something will come soon, but for all 9XXXX people, sorry to give the bad news.

thats crappy news... on a seprerate note i cant seem to log on to the live chat it always says banned whats the deal with that?

I wish they would just release the firmware for the new drive. You can always get the drive key from the motherboard if you are willing to JTAG it.
Maybe once keys become more difficult to pull from the drives themselves we will see some simple to use JTAGing tools being developed. It could end up as a good thing, as it would get more people educated in homebrew as well.

download mirc and use it. or some other irc client. that will probably solve your issues.

Looks to me like the server is picking manu up as a drone, bot, zombie, etc. Whatever you want to call it.
I would run a virus scan and make sure my computer isn't being used as a zombie spam server, if I were you.

Had no idea that could be done could you point in the right direction it would be handy to learn to do this

All I know is that mine is a Lite-On, how would I know what series it is? Thanks for the update, much appreciated.

open the console up and read the FW revision on the label for the drive.

The homebrew crew over at http://www.free60.org has good info. It is specific to homebrew, but the JTAGing info can be useful for pulling the drive key. I've never personally JTAGed a 360, but I have JTAGed/flashed other electronic devices. It's really not that difficult.

wouldnt it be easyer to start thinking about (mod chips) again
like the old xboxes and other consoles .

Definitely another possibility, yes. We shall see.
Of course, don't count the new Lite-On as 'unflashable' just yet. Maybe it is just another encryption system that needs to be cracked, or something like that. The 83850 was 'unflashable'. So was the 74850. And they were both cracked. The newest Lite-On is next on the block.

i thought the liteon 83850 aug09 and up were still having issue being flashed. i have one that i cant get the key from. Thats how i got here, i was out reading trying to find out any new info on them.

Wow, this is really disturbing news... I feel like my dog just died...
Im sure someone will figure it out soon... I really hope so! PS3 is still unhackable so IF m$ finally caught up...we are stuck...*sigh*

Just askin as a general LAYMAN question.
So the 7 & 8 lite ons (im sure I got a 7 as its the first series that came out) The new firmware as mentioned it was in the workes for 2 months, how difficult could it be to re code from 1.6 to going 1.61?

i dont think very but as was said they are concentrating on the new drives first so the rest of us will just have to wait.if you cant wait buy a benq drive and spoof as a liteon then you will have 1.61
