Yeah, what one would you guys recommend? They have a usb verision on ebay with the power adapter or just go with the one from team xecuter?

I have CK3 Lite + Probe and it works great. I know people that have the Xtractor PRO + Spear and it gets the job done too.

i have the extractor pro and love it. i wouldnt even bother spending my time making my own, even though i know i could make it properly. just easier to spend the 50 bucks and get it already done and know it will work and hold up. plus it paid for itself the first time i used it.

all that link is doing is showing you how to make the spear part, not the main part you need. if you want to make your own, then i believe bhetrick has a sticked tutorial on how to make them.

yea its possible as i believe with bhetricks method you use the 360 to power the drive. but you still need the main tsl332 chip stuff, or whatever it is to actually read the drive. you might want to have a look at his thread and see what all it does show because i could be wrong about all of this. i only looked at it when it was first made.

nahh he is using a connectionitivity kit and transistors. Im trying to go solderless cause my soldergun died. I have a few household things to take apart if i need transistors haha

That definitely looks safe, cutting the wire and using black tape. Top notch... LOL.
I definitely agree with wabashman. Just get the probe and connectivity kit and its already done for you. It will save you time and a headache researching and testing your homemade probe. I believe there is a small about of voltage that goes through the probe and if it isn't right, you will fry your drive.
Like wabashman said, after the first couple of times you mod your friends XBOX 360, you will have made your money back.

see heres the thing mines modded already ms28 same with a few benQs here and there the damn liteons piss me off i dont like spending money cause working in the fast food biz at 15 doesnt pay well, i would rather make homeade stuff for bragging writes and savin my green backs :)

No problem. I understand where you are coming from.
Only problem is if you plan on using the XBOX 360 to power the drive, I don't think the XBOX 360 DVD power cable comes with the extra wires like those green ones from CK3.
Only the CK3 DVD power cable has pins 1 and 2 which is what that guide you posted is using.

I believe 1 is for the TX when the R707 is bridged and 2 is is for the RX when the R708 is bridged.
Not 100% positive on this so if anybody wants to correct me, feel free to do so. :)

If you had the points bridged, you wouldn't need the homemade probe, you could dump the key. But that is using the 1 & 2 pins on the power plug going through the connectivity kit, and out serial or USB to your computer. The guide you posted is still using the connectivity kit because even after you made that ghetto probe, how is the key going to get to your computer??? Has to use USB or Serial.
