Hello all,

First, I HAVE used the search feature (and not just within this forum) and have come up with nothing.

Now, this may be a very simple question. Hopefully it is and will require little explanation from the community here.

I have been modding, flashing, and repairing Xbox 360's for a few months now with great success. I have flashed many drives, TS25, TS28, Hitachi's (47, 59, 78, 79), and Ben-Q's. However, I have yet to mess with any Liteon drives. I just received two jasper consoles both with Liteon drives. The first is a 93450c and the second is a 83850c(not sure if it is a V1 or V2. I haven't done anything with it at all). Both have open tray and opening issues so I plan on replacing them.

So, here is my question(finally): Can I replace these drive with ANY Liteon? I know the model number is identical (DG-16D2S-09C) so the leads me to believe that I can get any DG-16D2S-09C, erase it, and put the firmware/keys from the drives I want to replace on the new drives. Am I correct in assuming this? Or do I need to get two different replacements, one 93450c and one 83850c?

All of your help and responses are appreciated!

first of all, you are going to need additional equipment to flash those LO's. unless you want use the MRA method on them. it would probably be easier to just replace the lasers instead. no flashing required that way.

Come talk with us on efnet at #elitemods !!! or just click ME

ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

I have the probe already. I do not doubt that I can extract the keys, my only concern is replacing the drives.

Anyone have any ideas?

All the lite-Ons (in Jaspers) are the same. Just different firmware on them.

So yes, you can replace any version Lite-On with any other Lite-On version as long as you extract the keys from the original Lite-On and flash them to the new Lite-On. Since you've as you said "flashed many drives", I assume you're doing this for customers, and if so do as wabashman said and get the equipment to flash those Lite-Ons properly (Probe II or USB360Pro/Lizard).

Thank you so much eebeejay! I figured that I could but it never hurts to be 100%.

Well, I am thinking about keeping these two consoles, actually. Normally, I buy broken consoles, fix them, and re-sell them or give them to my friends. My personal console is a Xenon so I might just sell that one and keep the Jaspers for myself (both suffered from a no-power issue that I was able to fix).

We will see.

Again, thank you for the help!
