Liteon RS-232 possible to convert to usb?

Hi I have bought a connectivity kit which came with a probe but the other end is RS-232 the 9 pin. My computer does not support that. Is there any tricks or putting it to usb or anything or do i have to buy a converter for it?

You just have one of the first kits. The new ones now have usb on them. You could try a serial to usb, but I am unsure if that would work. I'd get a Probe II kit.

Im just going to have to buy a converter on eBay usb to rs232 that should work? There no other cheaper ways? I found a pc with RS232 but no sata cable...... I wonder if I can do anything there..?

Thanks for the help really do appreciate it but can someone please confirm with me that something like this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/USB-serial-RS232-...=item439f7182bd will work so I can be able to get the key off?

someone would off tried this out before? Its worth given it a shot because my xbox is not working atm for not reading cds. just one problem is making the probe reconise it.

Dude, are you reading the answers? You cannot use that method anymore!! You need to do a full dump. BUY A PROBE 2
