Making a 250 GB Drive (SATA drivers)

Hi guys,
I am preparing to upgrade to a 250 GB (WD) from a 60 GB and I got all the tools needed.
However, when preparing my USB to boot as a dos disk, it only boots as a C (ignoring all other drives), so how can I make it recognise the SATA HDD.

I unplugged everything and made sure my BIOS was set to boot from removable device.

Plus I think i'm right in saying, If you have one of the WD drives you dont need anything else except the program itself. It should be able to see the new HDD

right. once the OP gets booted into dos and runs the hddhackr.exe command, it will scroll a list of all the available sata and ide ports with the name of the HD, dvd drive, whatever is hooked up to it.

Didnt work on my Laptop, I put the 250 GB as secondary drive in my laptop and run into MSDOS and run hddhackr.exe and it hanged there with the cursor blinking without any reaction.
iprep says that primary port is 8108. Shall i try it the manual way? or will it hang too?

probably would be alot easier with a desktop. and you could just take out the primary hard drive and put the 250 in its place and it might work. doubtful though.

I took the other drive and it worked, but when using the HDDHACKR.EXE I get a no ATA detected

@wabashman: I tried to boot off the desktop, but my usb stick (or my mother board) dont seem to be very compatible (my mobo detects the drive but doesnt boot from it, actually it did once).
So my point, is there a bootable CD that I can use to help boot from usb? thanks in advance

I just want to hold hddhackr on USB but a CD (an app) just to boot from USB (like we used to boot from floppies when CD drives were not bootable)

I used two laptops and I get "Reading HDD sectors failed!" .
I used this "hddhackr d 8108 a0 hddss.bin" (on one laptop and changed the port on another).
Anysuggestion?

I was able to extract successfully the sector from my 60 GB. I used my desktop and used a floppy (after 10 years of not even holding one in my hand) :)
The flashing of the 250 GB will be done tonight hopefully as I just freed the space. Thanks for your suggestions
