So yeah I recently messed up a buddys benq drive permanently and gave him my flashed liteon 74series 360 to hold on to. I was going to buy a brand new console and give it to him but then it crossed my mind, why give him the new one? Even though I never flashed anything pass the 74series...Im pretty confident I could if I tried it. I know I need the vampire kit and all but my question is...will it work with the 1st Maximus USB Xtractor model? If not then I will just give him the new console and take my old one back.

I'm an Xecuter Probe II man myself. You might wanna PM wabashman with that question. He's the only big boy on this site that I know for sure uses the Vampire. Some of the other big boys here may probably use it also. Or check it's details on their site.

Oh I don't doubt that it works. If I had a Maximus connectivity kit, I'd have gotten a Vampire. But I already had a trusty CK3, so I added the Probe II. I'm sure one works just as well as the other.
And yeah, post times were a minute or less apart.

Maybe I should have gave more details with my previous question. I was wondering if the current Maximus USB Xtractor(connects directly into the back of the drive) model I use to flash everything from the Phillips liteon 74series on down to the older drives compatible with the vampire probe? When I watched the video tut on the official site. I could have sworn I seen a diff. model just cause of the way it was hooked up with the probe. I might be wrong but I do know they have a maximus xtractor 2 now. Is this model the only one that the vampire will hook up to?

The Maximus USB Xtractor that you have, is that the one that's just like a simple pen with the probe on the end to read the key? Because to use the Vampire you need the 360 Xtractor Pro. I've got the Vampire as well, but haven't been doing boxes lately, cause ppl here are too scared about bannings!

You probably saw the video for the Maximus xtractor 2. Both work on the vampire. The xtractor 2 has a couple added features. You could go right to Ed and ask him yourself if you don't believe me. He's the guy who works direct with maximus. Can't wait till they release the solderless boards for flashing the nand.

Saw your reply afterwards...but to answer your question...I have the Maximus USBXtractor with the built-in power dongle. The probe itself is connected to the computer through a usb port. The more I look at it the more I believe that this wont work with the vimpire probe. vgcrepairs.biz/zen_store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=263

Welp, just found out its not going to work with my current xtractor. Guess I'll just buy the model 2 seeing how more people are coming to me with the newer drives. SUcks I just bought the damn thing in Feb. and already kickin it to the side. If I can get it to sell on ebay, guess I'll feel a lil better :\
