Ok, so first off I'm not sure if this should be in this sub-forum or perhaps playback problems forum, but here's my issue. I have some HD movies in MKV format. I know x-box 360 won't play MKV, but they still show up in the media center. I followed the guide for converting mkv to mp4 from this site, but the converted files won't even show up in media center to even try to get them to play! has anyone else had this issue? know how to fix it?

A quick dirty solution is to change the file extension from .mp4 to .wmv after you have converted them. They show up instantly then, you can also apply a registry change to make .mp4 files show up, but I have found that the files take longer to populate the media database this way?
