I remember using the same argument on the blank media forum years ago when I thought I knew better, I argued with some addicts when they tried to warn me about disc's like memorex and other crappy media, I always said I have burned hundreds of them without any flaws the past couple of years, you guys don't know what your talking about, they would say wait a couple of more years and give us a shout.
Well it's been over 5 years now and all those CMC mag disc's I burned half of them won't play anymore, thank goodness I re-thought what they tried to teach me almost 4 years ago and started purchasing Ty's and Verb's only, to this day my Ty's and Verb's play just fine, also because with thier advise on where to get them at rock bottom prices with different web-sites or certain store outlets, hell I even got better deals on them many times than buying junk, I just wish I wasn't such a know it all those first few years, it was a mistake that cost me time and money.
I don't mean to preach or sound like a know it all, but I heard your kind of argument many times before, always with the same ending results after time, people like me that learned the hard way I am just trying to give some decent advise, but than again if you think people like me are full of it than by all means keep using those CMC mags.

I have always used memorex discs and the only problems i have ever had are they sometimes don't boot on the first try. But besides that i support Memorex 100%

Ok now aside from the bashing that OVER 8000! tard is getting and should get over and over again......
Verbatims are the media of choice in any application that you need to use DL-DVDs. Yes memorex works, Yes Sony works. YES THEY WORK! but when it comes down to it Verbatim is the Higher Quality than the rest. every disk is the same. when you think about it and actually analyze things you see this.
Think of it as your muscles. (those that have them and those that use them) when you repeat a task over and over again it gets easier and less stressful to the point you don't even think about it. Computers work generally the same way. When a laser is used to a nice smooth media that has almost no imperfections and then gets the one disk that has plenty of them it tends to hesitate and in some cases even stall.
The simple point is that Verbatim is the highest quality and most trusted media. the rest have so many different factories and been out sourced so many times that the media quality is piss poor. i myself bought a pack of regular memorex dvds and when i looked at the back of them there were around 20 out of 50 that had a completely different color back to them and the other 30 had 5 or 6 different serial numbers. but when i bought my first set of verbatims they all had the same numbers on every single one. this is just one example of many that could be posted.

demon very nice explanation, unfortunatly too many people it will go unheard, you know why because I was the same way once, I was always a show me guy, my burns with crap media almost always went well, so when the big boys were trying to explain facts to me I was not seeing any, not until years later when I finally saw for myself that crap medai is exactly that crap, in other words I was finally shown, like I said on my earlier post, I thought I knew better, most of the big boys on AD are no dummies, and as you hang around AD long enough you pick up pretty quick on which one's know what thier talking about.
Before I realized how wrong I was you could have talked to me till you were blue in the face, it would not have mattered until it happened to me, many people I know that always bought crap media and still do also experiance those same problems, they run to bestbuy or max and get the cheapest media they can find e.g. imitation or memorex etc., at times when I visit and laugh when thier crap don't play in a player, I don't get into I told you so, I just shake my head.

all of that he said is true. (although if the dollar drops any more we are screwed, and i like the chevy better than anything) so your the one out of line. Verbatims are the highest quality media no matter what angle you look at it from or how you spin it.

I have over 200 360 games. I use Memorex because the discs are cheap. I found out through trial and error that it has to do with the dye they use in the discs... at least that was the issue with my burner. My burner will ONLY burn on Verbatums on this computer, so it is usually a hardware issue. I have other computers that I can use Memorex on, but I find with Verbatum discs, I get a better success rate, even burning at 4x. Sure, they are more expensive, but they are cheaper than paying $60 a game... I have had some success with Fuji, Nexxtek, and a few other brands, but if you know what you're doing and you want a guaranteed 100% success rate, Verbatum is the way to go. Like I said, I burn at 4x (not recommended, I know) and my games still work.

as he said he uses cheap disks cause he can but verbatims are hands down better. that alone is end of story.

OK, after reading through all this, I have a comment and a question.
Comment: One person stated that Memorex are made here, are made there, etc., So are Verbatims. Last 3 packs I bought were made in 3 different locations. I know Verbatims are the best, but it also comes down to what an individual can afford at the time. I've used Memorex as well with no problems.
Question: What do you guys think about Ridata/Ritek discs? Used those with no problems as well. In fact, that's what my current batches of Memorex come up as.

I have never bought verbs for more than 20 bucks per 100 pack, I don't think your gonna get much better prices buying CMC Mags e.g. memorex etc. ty's on the other hand which I also buy bundles and actually are the best of all media, I use +r's which are a little more expensive but not by much especially when I wait for deals usually around 24 bucks per 100 packs.
Ridata/Ritek I have used before but was not very impressed even though they are a little better than CMC Mags, I would label them as middle of the road, here is the part that gets me, we all look for the best deals, and of course we want quality which most of the time is more important than price, I can't fathom whay people want to chance non quality media when if you look around how can you beat 20 bucks per 100 like the verb's, even if you would find a 100 pack of memorexes for maybe a couple dollars cheaper why chance it for a couple of bucks, you know you'r gonna have top quality for some time to come, it's a no brainer really, if the savings were huge and I personally would still not chance it I could see it, but for for a couple of bucks no way.

depending on how i get them i usually get a 50 pack for roughly 20 but if i buy them right out from the store they like 100 almost. like ot know where you get 100 for 20 cause that is unheard of.

Unfortunately, I live in Cana-duh, lol. Our dollar is pretty close to the US dollar, but we still pay over inflated prices. Just checked Newegg.ca, and a 50 pack of Verbs sell for $55CDN.

demon I get verbs 100 +r packs from whenever office max has sales which are regular and sams club has them at that price just about all the time whenever they get a bunch of verbs, thats not unheard of thats a fact.
