anyone ever get a letter OOOPS
Dear
It has come to Microsoft Corporation?s attention that you are distributing Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles that have been modified to circumvent the built-in hardware and software security mechanisms.
Microsoft demands that you immediately cease and desist from distributing all unauthorized Xbox consoles and from engaging in any activity that infringes Microsoft's copyrights and trademarks. Microsoft reserves the right to seek all viable legal remedies without further notice.
By marketing or distributing Xbox consoles that are modified to circumvent the technological measures used to protect Microsoft?s copyrighted programs, you help to provide unauthorized access to Microsoft?s programs. This activity violates federal law and you may be subject to substantial liability. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, distributors of such unauthorized Xbox consoles may be liable for $2,500 for each violation, and repeat offenders face triple damages.
Infringing Microsoft?s copyrights and trademarks can subject you and your company to civil and criminal liability. Even an unintentional infringement of Xbox games in violation of federal copyright and trademarks laws could subject you and your company to civil liability. Further, for willful infringement, federal law authorizes statutory damages of up to $150,000 per copyrighted work and up to $2,000,000 per counterfeit trademark. Intentional violators may also be subject to criminal penalties.
If you want to be sure you are distributing genuine and lawful Microsoft Xbox games, acquire your games from an authorized Microsoft distributor. You can find a list of authorized distributors at http://www.xbox.com/en-US/retail/distributors.htm.

A guy on another forum got a letter like that. On that forum, they narrowed it down to the fact that he sends a LOT of consoles in for repair, and Microsoft is assuming the reason includes modding, and the letter is simply a scare tactic.
But like marcus said, a lawyer to check it out is a good idea.

wow. I think I've sent in about 100 consoles and never got a letter. Keep us posted on this.

i have only sent in 2 consoles,plus its strange how they got my email,im thinking it some douche on craigslist hating but i emailed them back waiting on a response,i aint worried,its just a letter to stop what im doing,

I think it's a fake. When you check out the "http://www.xbox.com/en-US/retail/distributors.htm" link they posted in the letter, it goes to an inactive page. If it was Microsoft, they would have updated that link to the proper page. That's what I think anyway. :)

Whatever you do, do not reply. Never say anything and seek legal counsel.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Well, you know what, since the recent sh*t Ive had with Microsoft, I say Piracy is the way to go! Im not spending £45 on a game for the xbox to scratch it and then Microsoft admit there error, but want me to pay for the replacment game!
I do circumenvent copy protection, come after me Microsoft!

I second that... I've had my problems w/Microsoft as well, and they can go suck it.
