Hi all,
just a breif picture of what I am using, windows XP SP2, FWtoolbox, dosflash 32, sata via chipset for the benq drive.
A few years ago I had my drive flashed and since then I have had two sucessfull flashes. Recently I was trying to update the firm ware and ran into a problum. I had everything set up, ready to go, put the drive in mode B. Then my computer froze. While I was trying to figure the problum, I acidently shut the dvd tray. When I finally got it open the drive seemed dead. And I am not sure when my computer was runing slow I might have hit a button I should not have. It seems that there is no FW or key on the drive. I have been looking everywhere for answers, but the closet I code find was using a mod disk, but that froze when trying to read block 0.
I still have the origional FW and dvd key in a e-mail, but am just lost on trying to get it back on the drive. Can anyone help me?
I thank you in advance, and apreiciate all answers.
Thanks

i would suggest using junglefasher as this is the program i used to overcome a similar problem the drive i had wouldn't respond what i did was manually open the drive fully and then set to halfway send the vendor intro as you would do and switch the drive when prompted i had to do this several times to get good status 0x73 a few times the drive failed to read/write but after persistant trying i got a read made up the fw and flashed back then outro the drive and worked fine
also when i flashed back it checked the 4 banks and said write verify failed but the drive works fine
used 1.76 jf via chipset with drivers disabled and running portio32 drivers other wise you will expereriance polling and may lock up your pc also running xp home
hope this helps there may well be an easier way please someone give advice if there is

for benq you don't need the tray half open trick. just run the intro or do the vcc trick. see jungleflasher for it (the jf manual i mean). just load your original fw as source; and load ixtreme as target. (or load your original fw as target immediately if you want to flash the original fw back)

@ dennis
you are correct in saying use the intro/device id or vcc as he has via drivers and this method should work for any benq mod or stock didn't notice he via some of my friends use different chipset and this does not work for them and they have to use the half open tray/vcc
go into mtk32 tab on jf run device and so forth to get good flash properties when your good switch tabs to firmware tool 32 and select open your source firmware it should show your dkey (top right red outline on diag) if this is not your key as you have stock fw from somwhere else type in your key and save drive key
then you want to open target fw (lt+) and click spoof source to target which will transfer your key to hacked fw then go back to mtk32 tab and proceed to wrte fw
hope this helps

are you running your sata lead in the master port also do you have the correct port selected in the drop down box in mtk select the via ports only this will narrow down the ports and go through them refreshing to see which one it is.

Hey brother, the tutorial I send you two years ago is old but it will still work. My PC would not run JungleFlasher then so that is why I used the software I recommended. Follow the steps and you'll be good to go. There is a chance the drive has no firmware on it which means it is a blank drive so the XBOX doesn't know what it is or what to do with it. Just use the software/tutorial and add the dvd key and you'll be good to go. However if you get online with is I'm certain you'll be banned because in Dec '09 I was banned and I had a newer firmware than you are running.

I was e-mailed my key, 4C82-0010-8011-0000-6551-7732-3953, which is only 28 letters/numbers, when I open my org.bin file in toolbox is shows 1541A087835B82F5432F466776A3742F, which is 32. After reading the tutorial I tried doing what it said, doing a direct drive flash, but it is for GDR drives only
