I got a modded 360 (I don't know what mod or firmware) and he said never play a burned game online if I don't know what I'm doing. Well I never stealth patched any of my games but I never went online so it's all good. Since its been modded, the xbox has never connected to the internet. My question is, Is it only modded games that cant be played online? Would I be safe to play a legit game on Live? (I assume not) If I get a legit copy of a game what would be required to play online? (If that's even possible.) I would also be fine with just "un-modding" my 360 if that's a possibility as well.

if either the game or the console is modded in any way yes you can get banned from getting online
if you do however return the original firmware and play an original game then its fine.....but why bother?
why not just get another cheap unmodded 360 for playing online?

Well I'm on a tight college student budget. Would you happen to know where I could read about stealthing my 360 or turning it back to the original firmware?

well to stealth patch game use abgx360 and look on youtube for a tut on how to set it up properly
that program automatically stealth patches games for you

as for putting the origional firmware back into the drive just do the same steps as flashing but instead of using iextreme use the origional saved firmware that you ripped from the xbox when you flashed it in the 1st place.

Is it necessary to do anything to a legit game or the 360 to play a real game online? Or is it just if I have burnt game?

when some games are ripped the stealth patches sometimes don't rip with the game so when you burn them they dont have the patch and this program finds it a replaces whats missing and tells you if the game has been tampered with at all too :)
its the easiest option but id go and get a 2nd cheap un flashed xbox for online and keep the flashed one offline so you get the best of both worlds

So it really doesn't matter that It's a legit game, The 360 would get banned anyway?

Technically it can. Microsoft "supposedly" detects firmware, it doesn't matter if the game is legit or not.
