My modded 360 has had the RROD since July where it was working perfectly fine on xbox live. I've been so busy with school I never really cared to fix it. I'm considering getting it fixed right now and was wondering if it would still work on xbox live? It has a stealth chip on it as well. If not I would purchase a new arcade one to play games online. Please Help

You always run the risk of being banned on live if you have a flashed drive. The RRoD itself has nothing to do with live compatibility- f you get your xbox fixed it will still work on live, it doesn't come back half-mended!

I would advise taking it to a professional repair. The DIY kits you can get on ebay aren't a good idea. Contrary to popular belief the X-clamps should STAY in your xbox and running the solder is a foolish method that will warp the board. Whilst it is being repaired ask them to update your drive's firmware so that way you are safer on live.

I dont think the x-clamps should stay on the system. You can see when you take them off that they're basically spring loaded with quite a bit of pressure and provide a lot of upward pressure below the board (and on a single point in the middle too). I dont believe they provide the 3mm worth of height necessary to be even with the standoffs around the chassis either. They're what causes the flexing that breaks the cheap solder MS uses
