74850c can be done with a probe, no need for MRA (the first time)

Wrong. You must cut the traces. Using the probe 1 does not dump the laser calibration and is not safe on xbox live. You will get banned and kill your laser. Do it right and cut the traces

You are correct, I was thinking in terms of simply dumping the key and making it work.

huh? i was sure that the 74850c never needed trace cutting or soldering? a friend has been using this since the days of ixtreme 1.4 and has updated to 1.2 LT and never been banned

they are speaking in terms of flashing it the way you would a 93450c, in which case traces must be cut

That method is NOT safe on xbox live. Just because he may have lasted is pure luck. Come back and post after this years ban wave.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

It's not fine. It doesn't dump the laser calibration so unless you want to replace your laser more often then do it. I have heard both on the live issue. If you want to do it right and get a full dump, cut the traces. That is the right and best method. The 707 will work but I would recommend a full dump.

Pretty sure Xecuter knows more about the laser calibration data than...whoever you heard it from (who heard it from someone else, that heard it from someone else). At the very least it WONT destroy your laser, because the data is completely useless. Some stock liteons even have blank laser calibration data. If you want to do it right, probe or MRA because it doesn't matter, they're both right

Interesting, didn't know that. Do you have a source on the laser calibration data being blank? I've read in several areas that says to do a full dump of all liteons. Vcgrepairs being of on them. They work directory with Maximus and make the boards. I'd say they are a good souce.

I was somewhat wrong the MS refurbs are the ones that're blank, the ones straight from the manufacturer have the data http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showpost.php?p=267491&postcount=6

"Here is the method to do a full dump of your Liteon drive using the CK3 Probe II (MRA) Method. This has been tested working on ALL drives including 83850 v2 & 93450 (it works on the older 74850, 83850 v1 but there is no need to do an MRA dump of those drives ? it?s already proven that the laser calibration data was just manufacturer data and does not have any bearing on the fw at all)"
got this from the probe V2 guide link
