hey guys (and girls)

I'm new to modding the 360 but my brother did his and it works just fine so that turned me on to the idea of doing mine.... I'm just having two I would say small problems... The first problem I'm having I suppose is with jungle flasher... I'm using slax just fine and putting my drive in mode B and getting it seen on windows.... then following the JF tutorial I use the unlocking audio CD and that works... but when I try and dump my fireware it says this:

Dumping f/w of Hitachi 0078/0079 by Ram Upload Method via WIN32 API
Ram Upload Dump Failed

I'm not sure where to go now.

also my second problem is with the xbox powering off... sometimes the 360 will have the three red lights on indicating a hardware issue which I don't mind because it stays on, but if those lights are not on and it's just the green power light the 360 shuts itself off in about five to ten minutes not giving me time to figure out whats going on with jungle flasher...

any help you guys/girls can offer on hacking a Hitachi 79fl would be appreciated.

btw I am using a sata/usb but I wouldn't think that makes a difference since I'm getting it seen on window

re Hitachi: A few things. Try another transfer method other than RAM upload. Classic and Mode Select, for instance. Also, make sure you have 78/79 radio button checked, which it seems you do.

You don't need to use the Slax CD or do the audio CD manually, as JF has options to do those things, if you want. You may want to use JF's option.

Mode B is probably okay how it is, since you are seeing the drive, but the audio CD thing may not be going correctly and that may be the problem. If you are doing it manually, use JF. If you are using JF, try it manually.

Finally, try using PortIO instead of Win API.

re 3 red rings: Sounds like your console is on the outs. There is a 3 year Microsoft warranty on it. They will fix it better, cheaper, and with less hassle than you can fix it for. Of course the case must be unopened to do that... In a perfect world you would have sent it into MS to be repaired before you tried to flash your drive. However, as long as you can make the 360 look presentable (wink wink), MS will fix your console.

thanks I'll try changing it up on JF but the other options you spoke about are grayed out.... I'm thinking it's because I have the latest version and its trying to be smarter so I don't have too... I'll download a slightly older ver. and see where that gets me... looking up the problem with my xbox shutting off... just three red lights means its having a hardware/power supply issue I took that being caused by my rom being pulled from the system and not fully hooked up to the box... with the red lights not on it turns off like its over heating but i dont see how that's the case when its opened out of its case with all the air it wants circulating around it... still thanks at least I have somewhere to start

Make sure you have the AV cable connected to the back of the 360 or else it will automatically shut off after a few minutes.

hey thx I was just reading the list of JF common problems in the tut and like a noob didn't cover that... now the 360 is staying on but JF still isn't dumping... I jumped over to the JF chat and it looks like my 3 in 1 usb>sata is to blame so now I'm going to try and find a strictly usb>sata with no IDE and see if that works.... still open to suggestions tho but like always thx for the help

Yep, that makes sense. Sorry, I didn't read your initial post thoroughly enough to catch that detail.

Adapters definitely cause problems. Try to find a desktop PC if at all possible.
