Hey guys this section seems to be a lot more active than the dvdr forum. Just wondering if anyone can help me out here. My dvd drive just stopped reading any type of media. I tried updating the firmware and windows says its working properly, but when I put a blank disc in it just tries to load and doesn't do anything. It makes a noise like it's going to start but the stops. It just keeps doing it over and over again. It also locks up my computer if I try to click on the drive in my computer. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this.

I was hoping that it wasn't that but i do work at Best Buy so it should be really easy to get a replacement for cheap.

Blah... retail drives from big box stores. That left a bad taste in my mouth.

You can get a great dl burner for $20 ~ $40 from Newegg or Amazon, and that's free shipping and no tax.

Where ever you get it, pc drives are a lot easier to mess with than 360 drives so you really shouldn't have any problems.

Do you know what drive you have now?

Even Walmart has drives that do the job.

Lite-On DVD drive I actually have one of these.

HP DVD RW Drive work too.
