I just started playing with my modded 360 again after a few months and I originally had 1.61 FW I believe. I burned MK and got the Play DVD on dashboard, I then flashed my MS28 to LT 1.0 which seems to be the latest available for my drive, now when I put Mortal Kombat in it detects the game (shows the splash screen on dashboard) and I can choose play game. Problem is as soon as I choose play game I get a Unreadable disc error. I tried re burning at 1x, I updated my dashboard to the newest available and no luck.
Has anyone with a MS28 got it working and if so how?
Also I wanted to try Wave Patching but with this new game I believe its Wave 10 I read and I have no idea which patcher to use and which wave to patch it down to.
I NEVER play my modded online, all I do is play offline with my copies and I put my profile on my non modded system for online play with retail games.
It sounds like it's a bad burn. I have the same drive with the same firmware and I'm running MK with no problems. Either that, or the laser may be going bad. Try reburning on Verbatim discs.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Which Dashboard are you using? I'm guessing most recent?
Toshiba Drive seemto be touchy when it comes to burned games. I have had a few experiences where drive will be flashed properly, the TS 25/28 drive will read non-burned games, but will not read burned games (these work in other flashed consoles PERFECTLY).
This issue has popped up twice for me. Once, I pulled a drive out of a dead console and it worked great. The other time I jsut went on ebay and got a new drive for $13. Taht worked as well.
I have tried cleaning the drive and the lasers. Nothing is helping these drives. They just appear to be touchy.
