Have now given up hope of ever using VIA 6421 due to the 3249 properties constantly being inserted by Vista 32 bit. (Have tried everything imaginable to delete and replace with 6421 drivers (prior to disable, delete, re-enable etc etc).
Have 5 internal SATAs but could only have two available as the others are in use (including 0). Hooked up to 4, ran JF and now get ?Windows cannot access the specified, device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permission to access the item?!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Just about to give up after 4 weeks or turmoil and stress.
Thanks
Tony
Am still using CK3 connectivity kit

The Via card is needed for a reason. It's the chipset that matters. If you don't have a via chipset it won't work As in, it won't ever find the drive. Again, you keep posting this same thread over and over and obviously haven't read the ultimate sticky that gives you STEP BY STEP instructions. I would advise having someone with Xbox modding experience do it since you obviously cannot even search.

Ease up on him. I've PM'ed with him on a few issues involving this. He says that his card he bought IS a VIA 6421, but shows up as a 3249. The guy he bought it from (off ebay) says it needs the drivers installed to be recognized as a 6421. Everything he tells me insinuates that he understands the flashing concept/procedure quite well. It's just that the card isn't doing what it's supposed to, which says to me that the flea-bay guy sold him a bogus card.
TonyJer, it's time to eat that loss and buy another card.

Readin Modking's responses makes one believe that one is writing in Urdu or Swahili. He just doesn't (can't!) read and certainly can't smell the coffee.
Thanks you Eebeejay for pointing out my knowledge of chipset properties etc. Quite simply I wanted to say to hell with the PCI-SATA card and use one of my internal SATA ports. My "chipset" is 82801IR and I've seen this drive listed as one that is compatible with xbox flashing etc. I plugged in as stated previously then got this message which I now know is related to Trojans, Firewall, and suspicion of the site where the JF was downloaded from.
I will google as I always do to find a workaround to the error message is it likely that use of the internal SATA will be error free (SATA O is being used so I used another one as stated).
Modkings age is now most likely to be in the 4-8 range with a similar IQ!! I would sincerely suggest additional literacy and numeracy lessons.
Many thanks again Eebeejay.
By the way I'm convinced that the card issue is related to Windows Vista as this is the second card I've tried with the same problem. Someone has even stated that a fresh reinstall of Vista followed by installation of the card would produce the 6421 properties required.

I know its a long work-around, but you could always create a new partition on your hard drive and install XP, Ive never had any problems at all with xp picking up the drive. On some drive you need to not have the drivers installed, so i personally would say its the best way round this,

i actually bought a card off of amazon when i fist stated out, it states that it is a VIA VT6421A but i can not be to sure, it came with a mini driver cd, but i no longer have it.
anyway i i took a look at this picture on newegg from the link posted above, and it looks remarkably similar to mine, but it's not the exact same card. i have a picture i took with my dsi, just for comparisons sake, and you can view it here. i took them with my dsi, it's the closest thing i actually have to a digital camera, so sorry if the quality isn't the best :/ the reason i am posting about this, is that i was able to flash my drive in ms-dos, so you should give your card a wirl in that mode as well.
good luck!

2 handles for this forum?
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."
