I used to download movies from a torrent site and watch them on my 360 via USB. My 360 hasn't been online in like two years. One day it gave me an error for every movie I had. I looked up the error and it was something about a license transfer... My question is, Does anyone know how to get around this so I can continue watching Downloaded movies? I can't get online and do a license transfer and I'm sure that wouldn't help since none of the movies are purchased. Thank you for reading! I appreciate any kind of feedback.
There is a lot more people in the modding forum then the other one... thought I would post it here : )
The 360 requires you to download the Optional Media Update (OMU) from Xbox Live in order to play DivX files and such. You're automatically prompted to do this the first time you try and watch a type of file that requires it.
Unfortunately, the OMU is tied to your console with DRM in the same way that XBLA games are tied to it. If, for any reason, you change consoles, you have 2 options: -
1. Do a license transfer.
2. If you don't want to do a license transfer or you've done one and it still doesn't work, delete the OMU, create a new free Silver Xbox Live account, then log in to Live with that and download it. For some reason that will work, while doing it with your existing account will not.
Yeah, it doesn't matter if you have or don't have a gold membership...Just connect your concole to the net and the free silver acc. will allow you to watch them.
