I'm reading loads of stories of people who haven't played in a while. Then they have a quick go on live, turn it off, come back later and they're banned.
Sounds like if your not banned it's best to sit this wave out until it's safe to log on??
I'm so confused, don't have a clue what to do!!
I want to turn it on to check if I have been banned. If I haven't I was planning on getting a new console and just starting a fresh and being 'legal' :P But by the sounds of things if I log on to check I'm gonna get banned a few hours later! O_O

Once your system is banned, its banned. Even if you keep it off for the next month, the second you put it on you will get the ban notice. Best to just never plug it into live again if you want to keep the other features of the machine.

I'm curious - with MS having put in the option to rip the games off of the discs to the hard drive anyway, what other point is there to modding your console besides wanting to pirate games?
Granted, I know nothing about the 360 modding scene, but from what (little) I've read, it seems like the extent of mods is usually only to allow you to swap DVD/hard drives and/or play backups (either from the hard drive or from a burned DVD).
Correct me if I'm wrong, though. I just think that it's a bit pointless of the pirates here (as opposed to the actual modders) to complain about MS banning them when they were being stupid and dishonest in the first place. That's like complaining that the cops caught you robbing a convenience store.

If you want to know without losing your HD and all that call them and they ask for your Serial numbers and look them up on the blacklist if they say they can't help you then you know you can never logon again without losing your HD.

I've been banned... All my burns are verified 100% and I flashed the drive with an external power source and never played a pre-released game. Newest I've played was Forza 3, 5-6 days after launch for 3h max, only online being the storefront.
Either ABGX screws things up or the firmware is detectable, my bet is on the firmware.

I have a question about gamertags and using only 1 HDD for a new box and a banned box. If I play with a different GT on the banned box and switch back to my LIVE GT on the new box using the same HDD, the GT's should stay uncorrupted, right?

I need to call microsoft to see if my system has been banned. What should I tell them before giving them my serial number? What is the most common reason repair problem why people call in to tech support?
Thanks

Even if you don't play on the gamertag, as soon as you connect that drive to the banned box, all profiles on it will become corrupted, and have to be recovered from Live.

I was able to swap the HDD back and forth last night right after I was banned and none of the profiles were corrupted. The only thing I did on the banned console was try to log into Live. I played retail MW2 on the new console with the same gamer tag and hard drive and it was fine.
From what I understand, I think I should be fine, I'm just looking for some confirmation before I try it tonight.

M$ server sweeps live for consoles that are to be banned so if you stay off live till the wave ends (if ever) then you might be ok till the next wave. You might still be listed to be banned but if they only do it once a year avoid it now and you could have another year before they start crossing people off that list.
We all know by this stage that M$ can detect modded consoles so if you go on live it is unlikely you will survive and it was written on here before that wave would end on the 13th. Might not be true do.
Logging in to check if your banned now is like being in the trenches and popping your head out to know if your gonna get shot.

Question....For all that have been banned, are you able to login in via website (xboxlive.com) to view your account? Just asking, I've not been banned yet, but was able to login via website.

I just got banned. I lasted pretty long actually.
Drive: BenQ
Ixtreme: 1.6
Location: UK
All games checked and verified with abgx but before burn only. No wave 4 games played yet.
Oh well, time to buy PS3 or just come back to PC gaming.

Yes you can still log onto to the website as the ban doesn't affect your gamer tag.

Yes I can still log in to xbox.com and i've been banned. Doesn't show me on there that i've been banned as it's the console that is banned not xbox live account.
