I brought a second hand x-box for my son off ebay and he's been playing happily for a few weeks however I have since found out that the x-box is modded and banned from X-box live.
Is there anyway I can pay for and download the mw2 simulation pack without going on x-box live?
My son wants to play the new maps etc with his mates offline in multiplayer.
I don't believe there is a way to do this yet. Each DLC that you download is assigned to a specific Xbox. Being that he can't get on Live to download it, there isn't much to do. Maybe the makers of the game will come out with a collectors edition with the DLC on a disc, but you still run into the possiblity of them making you download the DLC with a code that is with the disc.
o.k I email the guy I brought the x-box from and he said it is chipped but not ban on x-box live or jtagged????, I have not connect to x-box live at my home yet. He said that I can still play on x-box live using iXtreme LT for my samsung drive. My question is how easy is this to do and will microsoft still detect it and ban me.
Anyway I've learnt my lesson , if something is too good to be true, like a cheap x-box than there's a reason for it.
I have been on XBL or two years strong with my modded box and have yet to be banned. I don't have a chip in mine thou, just have my firmware modded.. Just go online and play until it bans you, you will be able to get the MW2 package at least.
A chipped xbox has a physical hack chip soldered inside the box which allows you to apply various tweaks to your box as well as play backed up games (copies). A firmware mod is simply a modification of the firmware on your xbox dvd rom that allows it to bypass security checks thus allowing you to play backed up games without the need of any extra added hardware. Microsoft is sometimes able to detect firmware mods but their method for doing so is still a mystery. It's pretty much a hit and miss thing. Some people get banned within months while others go on for years without any issues. No one knows how they know, what they know, who is next, or why some are safe while others are not. Theres many threads here about that subject.

I'd like to see a link to the 360 you bought off of Ebay and read the description
cough cough ----> Ebay buyer protection (Against to rules at Ebay to sell modified systems so you'd get money back) Save the emails for evidence!
He probably sold you a banned 360 so ---> NO connecting to live and getting stimulus map pack. Even if it's not banned you will be prone to the next ban wave playing originals ;)
