My Xbox wont apply the new update!

I have the xbox 360 arcade with the samsung dvd rom drive. (aparently rare acording to the snot nosed kid at the place I got it modded.)
It was modded, but after preplayed games came out I stopped buying copys anymore. and broke the copys i had. It felt Great :) (no more guilt)

The new update downloads but cant apply. Gives me a error code.
I know its trying to re-flash the dvd drive. Can I flsh it back to stock then update?
Is there some crazy button cofig that wipes it to defult. ( Like the roll back RB LB x y RB LB x y Thingy)

Am I set to buy a slim? I miss plying MW2 online.

I had the same problem (sammy as well), so flashing back to stock and then doing the update worked! i recommend that route
