I needed to know a few things, I know how the process works for backing up games, and modding my drive, etc. I have been outta the loop for a bit because I have been busy.
1. My 360 is starting to crap out (imagine that) so I might need to purchase a new one this week. If I do, can the newer 360's drive be firmware modded to play backups? I know at one time there was trouble with certain drives that came in the units.
2. I have a Kreon drive, I use the SH-D162C TS05 model. Is there a newer firmware available? And how do I find which fw I am on.
3. Ok the hard one... I heard about this 3rd wave. I am aware I need to use the iXtreme 1.6 firmware. However, my current backup process used to be XBC v2.8 (Build 0275) run save as ISO and than burn w/Imgburn. I hear there is a ABX360 program that checks stealth / patches? Am I missing a step for 3rd wave games??
My backups are legit, I purchase my games, so please no flamming. I have a 6 yr old that scratches the crap outta my discs. Sucks I wont let him play my PS3 because I dont have a way of doing that. I miss carts! lol

Yes, both versions of the Lite-ON can be modded. The 74850C Lite-ON requires a probe to get the key info. The 83850C Lite-ONs dvdkey etc can be dumped via SATA and then decrypted.

Version 1.0 is the newest. Programs like XBOX Backup Creator 2.9 will show you the additional information about the drive.

If you don't have IX1.6 or IX1.51, you can't play Wave 3 games. You should ALWAYS be double checking your ISOs with ABGX before burning.
I don't remember which ver. I left off with on my 360. I think I could not play a backup of Ghostbusters, I got Prototype to boot but the video was jittery and the game froze off and on. And I think the new Sonic worked ok. I know Sonic and Prototype I believe had 3rd wave on them. So I guess maybe I did not do Ghostbusters correctly.
So does ABX360 just check the image then? Or do I need to patch the 3rd wave a different way?
Also have you had any troubles with XBC 2.9? I have it but been using 2.8 because I hear people were having problems with 2.9.

You shouldn't have to "patch" a wave 3 game. Just run it though ABGX and make sure it verifies properly. As for the issues with XBC 2.9, I haven't had any issues with it. What are other people experiencing?
