hi i have an xbox 360 that i would like to mod. the kernal and dash is 2.0.8955.0. what are my options? i would like to run homebrew and still play my games. im really new to the 360 scene. so if more info is needed just let me know. thanks.

Unfortunately, as of now you can't JTAG that particular console. Only some consoles with dashboard revisions of 2.0.7371 and older will be JTAGable.

Do you know what DVD drive is in your console? Liteon and Benq have firmwares that are considered safe on xbox live. You can consider flashing the drive to play backups.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

I'm pretty sure that your dash is too new to jtag so really your only option is to flash the firmware on the dvd drive to iextreme LT or one of those. The only thing that flashing the dvd drive does is allow you to play backed up games.

yes i have a benq drive. sorry i forgot to add that. so there is no way to run homebrew on that particular console? thanks for the speedy reply.

Can't do homebrew but I have two Benqs and they are extremely easy to flash using junglefalsher. As long as you have the right tools.

As long as it is a via chipset then yes you should be able to. I bought a pci via sata board for like $15 shipped so if it doesn't work it's really cheap to get one. SInce you have a Benq you don't need a connectivity kit all you need is a sata cable. You should google for the pdf junglefalsher tutorial. It's very straight forward and easy to use.
