If i decide to get a new console should i use a hard drive and gamertag from the banned box?

Please keep the answers straight. I only use x-box to game live with my friends because im the only one with a ps3. Im over all this banning and Rrod drama on my x-box so if nobody can give me a straight answer i might have to abandon my box
