So after the huge amount of systems bricked recently im am very uneasy about flashing drives. Friends want theirs flashed but the question is there any safe firmware out there? Thanks!

No "safe" firmware has been released as of yet ... and there's no estimated release date for one either.

its hard to say,,ihave flashed and sold xboxs with 1.61 and there still play MW2 online,,that you think would be the flag,,but who knows,,they have been on since the next day after the ban wave,

As far as I understand the rules, its all good to point to a torrent site, its bad to point directly to a torrent download.

If you insist on using torrents then isohunt would be a good place to start :D
Cannot recommend Usenet / Newsgroups enough. I belive there are some guides on here which may help you.

well i have seen newsgroups and i dont like those but rapidshare and download managers also seem to involve money so torrents seem to be the way to go so this hypothetical mw2 torrent exists and may be found on isohunt?

I use newsgroups and MegaUpload. It's not a lot of money at all considering what you get.
