New Hitachi 79 Not Playing Games

I bought a broken 360 with a bad Hitachi Drive. I got a new, brand new, Hitachi 79 drive and spoofed it with the old drive's key. It plays CDs and DVDs fine but, games it treats like a DVD and hangs on the Xbox 360 Screen.

I tried the laser calibration down to 2.8Ohms and still no luck. I happened to buy a spare laser and tried it. No good. Reduced its resistance to 3.5Ohms. Still no luck.

Two bad lasers seems unlikely. If I had fouled the key, the disks I put in wouldn't respond at all, right? Is it possible the mother board is somehow bad? Any other ideas?

if the key was written wrong it would show play dvd, check the firmware on the original and see that the keys match!

Triple checked the keys. They match.

Also noticed tha the original drive case firmware number was different from what JungleFlasher reported it as. Have forgotten what the case read but, JungleFlasher claimed the original drive was 78, my replacement is 79. Is that my amateur mistake?

that could be the problem, just be sure to write it as 79 firmware with your original key.
