Hi I turned on my 360 this morning and there is an update there from xbl is it safe to update or should I hold off for the time being i am running a 74850c with 1.6 firmware ?

You can't really hold off, unless you never want to go on xbox live. If the update does ban modded xbox's, there is no way to stop it.

Anyway, I just updated on my xbox, it seeems as though the update is just preparing the xbox for twitter and facebook.

Have game updates and system updates always been OK to download? Like was there ever an update that caused mass bans or anything? Just curious I recently got xbox so don't know the history ;)

Not AFAIK. Basically though, if you dont update you cant play on live (same as if you were banned) so its pointless not to update.

This update has nothing to do with twiter and facebook and such. That update will come later. This one is just for the wireless n adapter thats coming out.
