I have been looking around and keep seeing these two things popup, yet I am still confused as to what they are for. I have a liteon 9554 (non-slim) drive with Lt 1.1+ and I know that the new dash update just occured. Is it safe for me to go on live right now, or should I wait for a new fw update due to the recent update? Thanks.

It's always safer to wait for a new firmware. If you update, you'll lose the ability to play your backups as the update flashes new firmware to your drive that supports the new xgd3 format, plus M$ might be logging consoles that have flashed firmware on them to flag them for the next ban wave. You might have to wait a while, but it will be worth it in the end.

Is there any news on when the new firmware update will come for Liteon 9554 with Lt 1.1+??? that is in response to dashboard update?

I hate thread titles like this. It insinuates that you have info on these things or links to them.

Your thread title should've been:
"What exactly are XGD3 and LT2.0"
or
"Confused about "XGD3 and LT2.0"

Anyway:
XGD3 is a new format of game disc that current firmware can't boot safely.
LT2.0 will be the latest firmware from iXtreme, supposedly allowing us to boot this new format "safely" and stealth itself from Xbox Live.

I tried changing the title but I don't see where I can. Sorry about the confusion. So which games have this xgd3 protection and are you saying that those titles are unsafe for people with the lt 1.1+?

no games have this protection, it is still in dev. stages, no title is unsafe for people on lt 1.1, you cannot play on line with 1.1 because the update is needed to get on xbox live, once the update is applied 1.1 will be wiped from the box, and you will be back on ofw

Bottom left corner of your first post. It says "Edit Thread Title".
