Newbie need help soft modding xbox 360

I sincerely apologize if this question has been asked. Well i know it has, but it was probably a long time ago. I did search. I want to soft modd my sons xbox 360 he has the black color model i think its has 250gz drive. I not a total knob i have did the Wii. but for some reason all the tutorial on the xbox seem to be missing parts to it. they dont explain what model to use with what hack or do i need to update or don't update. some say flash it with a laptop some say other things so now im total confused.i just need a step by step tutorial on what to do for my model xbox 360. i want to do the hack that doesnt involve taking apart the laptop and that cord that the others had and some said something about action replay. Most tutorial explain it as though people know something about it already i need a play by play step by step. The slow version lol. And i will pass on the legacy. thanks guys

Now with flashing the xbox dose mean i have to take it apart and the laptop. i dont understand the tutorial.

the xbox must be taken apart, as far as your laptop you will have to buy a connectivity kit. something like USBPRO would be the easiest

i would recommend that if you are not wanting to buy equipment, and you are not able to follow the jungle flasher guide, it may be cheaper and easier for you to find somebody locally on craigslist to do it for you.

okay so its not like the Wii hack. where you dont have to take the system apart.Is it still consider homebrew or not.Im really a beginner until i find that one person to give it to me straight. Is there any other way besides flashing it or do u have to do it this way.i hope i dont sound like an idiot. lol.Do u know of any video links where i can see someone do it. Because it took me 3 weeks to figure out the Wii and my son is pressuring me. He's ten and he jealous that his sister can play all the games but he cant. lol thank so much for taking time out to answer my questions. because i know this is probably your thousant time telling someone the same thing your telling and it gets annoying. i dont wanna give up. i no i can do u. Where do i buy the stuff Best buy. The people on Craigslist are creepy. lol Well some of them anyway. And i just don't feel comfortable handed over a $300 xbox to a stranger u know.

Hi Jamika.
I can show you a few products/video tutorials, but first answer me this.. do you have an xbox360 "fat" or "slim"? If I am not mistaken, with the 250gb HD you should have a slim, but I want to make sure before I go and recommend tutorials and products.

okay peluynati get me behind the wheel and ill drive this thing.
What equipment do i need.
I'm pretty sure i did and update when i bought it last Christmas.
And is there anything i need to check or do before i start the hack.
I have the xbox 360 black model 250GB

I think i can take it from here!!!
Im pretty hopeful.lol
If i can figure this out, i cant even explain how cool this would make me.lol

I'm a 30 year old mother of 4. 3 boys and there going to think im the coolest mom ever lol.If i can get this figured out.

You already answered the question when you told me the model number. You have a "slim" version, and from what I have gathered on several boards for modding 360s, theres only one type of firmware you can mod for the 360 slim *so far*. The best thing to do to help anyone who tries to point you in the right direction for modding, is to get the firmware version off of you dvd drive. The only way to do that is to disassemble your 360, which in turn voids your warranty. Its best to weigh the pros and cons of doing that. If you should chose to go along with it, there are tutorials on youtube that can show you exactly how to open your xbox.
Search "How to disassemble xbox 360 slim". I can't post links on this board because I am new here :(

i can already tell you at the moment the drive you have is not modable, if it was manufactured on 10-17-2010 the drive that is inside does not have firmware available at this time, it will require soldering some kind of device on the board once it is available, how are you soldering skills?

read the label on the drive, just as i tried to tell you it will most likely say 0225, and there was really no need in taking it apart and voiding the warranty at this time because the firmware has not been released yet.

Sorry the job has been working me like crazy. Got the thing apart and it says on the hard drive.
we decided that i had the slim right.

Sure thing! a good video tutorial can be found on youtube. Just search for "flashing liteon 9504". Be aware though, that you will need to purchase the kits that allow the flashing of your DVD drive. A website that shows you the tools you need is www.team-excuter.com I bought their kits for flashing my own drive, and it worked like a charm! PLUS they have awesome tutorials on there for any of your needs.
