This is my first post, so hi all. I've lurked around the forums for a bit and finally registered.
I had a question and was hoping to get some advice. First, a little background information..
I received my 360 already modded, so I am not sure which method it was flashed. I'm under the impression there is a 'mod chip' method and another method in which the firmware on the DVD drive is flashed. Is there any way to tell? I have a fairly outdated dashboard (2.0.8995.0) if that helps.
I've been having troubles making backups of my games; some of them will work fine and others will read, but say 'Play DVD' instead of play game. I am not sure what causes this. I have gone step by step everytime (obtain the files, unpack, run iso in agbx, and burn on Verbatim discs at 2x using imgburn.)
Games that did not work are Guitar Hero 6, Call of Duty black ops, Need for Speed hot pursuit, and a few others I cannot think of off the top of my head.
So is there some kind of way to patch these newer games to play? Something special or different I need to do in agbx? ANy help would be appreciated
I thought I fixed the problem; I realized my agbx 360 was out of date, so I updated to 1.0.5 and when I scanned the iso it had a 'AP25 replay sector error'. I let it patch the files and tried to burn again but still the same problem persists. It comes up all green all the time too
Follow both PDFs to upgrade your drive firmware to LT+1.1. After your drive firmware has been flashed to LT+1.1 you can safely upgrade to the 2.0.12625.0 dashboard with the offline USB update method. After you have updated to dashboard version 2.0.12625.0 you will need to repatch these games with abgx 1.0.5 to be able to play them.
-Black Ops
-Modern Warfare 2
-Halo Reach
-Assassins Creed Brotherhood
-Need For Speed Hot Pursuit
-Fable III
To install the update extract it to the root of any usb and plug into the xbox 360. If it doesnt prompt you for the update turn the xbox off and on and you should be able to update
The only way to tell if you have a chip or a flashed drive is to either open it up and look for the chip, or hook it up to a PC the same way your modder did to flash the drive (if it was a firmware mod).
If it's a FW mod sounds like you haven't got the latest firmware.
You'll need LT+ 1.0 or 1.1 to play those AP25 games. There's a new firmware coming out soon (LT+ 2.0) so up to you if you want to wait or mod twice.
You will need LT+ 2.0 down the track because new games will have new copy protection that need 2.0 to boot. No ETA on it, although it should be within a couple weeks.
Burn your games at max speed. Someone posted an email from Verbatim here a while ago asking what speed is best and that is what they recommended.
Also you may have 'flagged' your console for a ban from LIve by putting in those back-ups without LT+ 1.0/1.1 present.
Flagged means when MS decide to do a ban wave your console will tell them you've been naughty and they'll ban your Xbox from Live. To check if you are flagged google for a tiny PC program called 'Xval'. You type in your 360's serial number and X value and it tells you whether you're flagged. The seial and x value are under system info from the system settings menu.
Edit: Also I thought I'd mention that at the moment you shouldn't take a modded 360 on Live. There's a new update out that flashes your drive back to stock and makes back-ups unplayable. LT+ 2.0 is supposed to fix this issue. If this happens you can flash your drive back to LT+. Obviously there's no point doing this unless you have original games and want to play them on Live until the new FW comes out.
So since I am using an older PC to do this, I dont have SATA support, only IDE. I read in one of the pdfs you can use a PCI SATA card. Would this be something that would work?
<I tried to put a link here, but it wouldn't let me because I am new.>
I typed in 'pci sata' in google and was looking at the 2nd link that came up on newegg, if anyone can tell me if that will work.
And my 360 is already banned from Live, so thats really not a worry to me.
To clarify things, I have to flash the firmware on the DVD drive before I update the dash?
