I am a noob in this area. I was scared of being banned early on and recently a friend told me about the flashed xbox 360s. I will probably get the things to do it myself but, because I didn't want to wait I paid someone to flash it to LT+. It is a 20gig Xbox from 2005 with a hitachi drive. Most backups have played that I have tried but I have issues with a few.

One game installs to 30% then fails and will play through the first level from disc before I get a cd read error. Another game fails at 70% install and I am afraid to start a game. An expansion disc for a game I was able to install 100% after trying a 2nd time to read the disc, now it won't read the disc so I can't start even though I installed it and my friends say that I don't need the expansion disc once its installed only the main game disc...

I was using memorex discs, abgx, and imgburn. I picked up verbatim today to check that and still no luck as far as the expansion disc goes. I was told that I could try pot tweaking the laser and if that fails could buy a new laser. Anyone have any other ideas? I don't know anyone nearby with a flashed xbox I can try a disc on. I would need the screwdrivers and multimeter for the tweaking.

Update* took apart the xbox for my 1st time. Cleaned the lens and lubricated the metal arms. Still having the same trouble. Think I'll order a new laser or maybe a new drive. I don't have the hook ups to flash yet and not sure I want to spend the money on it quit yet so may try the new laser first.

I think it is normal that several old games do not work properly on lt+, but work with the previous firmwares like 1.61

The expansion pack disc the xbox tries reading and then says open tray on the dash board, no disc read error. The other two fail at installing and pop up a message saying disc read error try cleaning the disc or something along those lines. When playing one of them from cd I get the same message after the first level and it goes black for a bit then to the dashboard with the message.

I was asking around online and I am fairly sure it is my hitachi drive or shitachi as I have heard they are called. I don't think it is LT + especially since they are newer games (not the expansion) and a friend has no trouble with the same discs (his backups) with LT. I have the hitachi 46 and will probably go to the hitachi 79 unless someone can tell me a reason to get a different hitachi. I also understand that you can't spoof different brands of drives anymore because it will get you a ban.
