A wildly popular rumour, it is in fact true. A little known secret about the Xbox 360 is that it will play genuine disks, right out of the box. Here's a walkthrough...
What you will need:
- An Xbox 360, either the old or the slim will do.
- Any genuine Xbox 360 game (popular selections include Call of Duty, Fable among others).
Here's what to do:
- Turn on the Xbox 360.
- Insert the disk.
- If required, select "play game" from the Dashboard... it may be set to autoboot, in which case skip this step.
- Enjoy!
Let me know if you have any questions.

If the guy saw a video on youtube saying it can be done, who are we to say otherwise. Someone is hardly going to make a youtube video for the sake of misinforming people. Had I wandered across such a video, I could have saved myself the trouble of flashing my 360 drive.

airwolf,
No console manufacturer is going to make a console that will play burnt discs. Would you? Sega made the mistake of not having protection in it's first revision of the Dreamcast. They assumed that since the games were on GD-ROM, that no one would be able read them to copy them. They were wrong. This hasn't happened since and will never happen again.
You will always have to put in some kind of work to play your backups.

I don't think you read anything before posting the first time... something tells me you realized it a few minutes too late.
