Sometimes, with some games, when I start my 360, the DVD makes this hacking noise, and then the console freezes. No respond if I press buttons on the controller, so I either have to get up and turn it off on the console itself. OR, press the eject-button on the console, and If I do that the freeze disappears, I insert the disc again and then I can play. The games themselves works fine, I can play them with no problems. But I have to turn on the 360 without a disc in the tray, then put it in and play.
The same thing happens if I exit a game to the dashboard, noise from DVD and then freeze. I think this has something to do with the latest dashboard update, because I didn't have this problem before. I update dashboard manually with USB, because I have iXtreme 1.6 and I patch all my games to wave 3 before I burn them, so I don't want to go online. The games are installed to the harddrive. This doesn't happen to all games, just Just Cause 2 and Alan Wake this far. The console haven't been played much on, and It's built in 2009. Jasper motherboard, Lite-On DVD and all that I think. So I don't think It's beginning to break already.. What can be wrong?
Probably your drive is going out. Jaspers don't ever red ring so that wouldn't be it. Weak lasers will cause games to freeze. If it's making noise, time to replace it.
Thanks, but I guess I'll just leave it be, I know nothing about fixing these things. Kinda weird the drive is already breaking, I only had it for not even a year. Nothing else I could try? Is there a way to delete dashboard update and install it again or something?
