non-steath or 1.61 firmware

recently firmware that doesn't check for stealth and plays all waves was released for all drives but just 2 hours ago 1.61 for the lite-on was released, so all drives now have 1.61

so which firmware should I use?

If you're banned I'd perhaps go with the non-stealth so you can play games no matter what wave, I'm personally going with 1.61 for now however, and may go to it at a later date...if I can even figure out how the hell to flash, it's my first time and I'm having some MTKFlash 32 problems

i flashed my drive to nonstealth from 1.6 yesterday.
after it was flashed i noticed that it was taking a lot longer than usual to install games to the hard drive and it was much louder than before.
so today i reflashed the drive with 1.61 and it is back to normal.
so the conclusion i have come to is 1.6 nonstealth is a altered version of 1.6 edited by someone outside of team jungle.
when they saw this they released 1.61 and there defenatly is a diferance between the two.
i would stick to the official releases from team jungle.
i have a liteon drive 7xxxxx
i am banned from live so it makes no odds to me what firmware i have
but for using live i would wait untill LT comes out before using custom firmware.

There should be no difference in the speed that games load/install as only a single byte was edited to turn 1.6 into this non-stealth version. I installed it last night and the only difference is that I no longer have to use activate.iso. As none of the iXtreme firmwares are safe on Live, I don't see why anyone would bother with the stealthed version because when a new video wave appears you'll be back to using the activate.iso disc again. IMO, you might as well go for the non-stealth (and stay offline) and then install LT if and when it ever appears.

How did you install games to your hard drive if you have a banned console? Just curious...

Anybody else have that problem? I am going to try the new non-stealth for lite-on but dont want to run into any issues like that...

I used JungleFlasher. Follow the steps as normal and then JF will ask if you want to auto-load the firmware. If you say yes, it will fail because JF doesn't recognise the non-stealth firmware, so just go to the Firmware Tool 32 tab and do it manually.
