Likely the dvd drive is bad and it might have to be swapped out for a new one or a new laser could do it. If you play the game does the drive get loud then go quiet (disc slowing down in attempt to be read)?

well i cleaned the cd it had tiny little dots on it looked like it got sprayed with water or something and i played fine for about an hour and it worked...i had another question about the rrod. when i put it back together it worked immediately meaning i didnt have to let it overheat i just turned on expecting three red lights and it just went green...is that normal and is this fix only temporary am i gonna get it again in about 2 or 3 months

Results may vary on the xclamp fix. Not everybody had to over after the fix, I being on of them. After my fix(6 months now....'knock on wood') it startedright up. I hope I got this right. After you copied the game to your hard drive you still got an error abot yor disk. By the way is this an original or copied game.

thanks for replying......it was a real disc but it played fine after i cleaned it ever so carefully i played for an hour no problems....i have 5 computers and none of them had that sata hook up in them so i havent played with any back-ups yet....did you have to let it over heat after you did the x clamp fix or did it go green for you right away too? what kinda computers have those sata hookups?can you play those bakups online without getting banned...sory about all these noob questions as i have been stuck on ps2 for quite a while and i got this xbox 2 days ago fix took about an hour but i didnt let it overheat as suggested do i need too?

That also varies, some xboxs just work straight away with the correct amount of pressure alone while some need the GPU to be baked and cooled before they get green lights. It depends on how bad the loose solder is.

It could last a day, it could last years, you can't really tell but if it rrods again you could tighten the screws more and overheat it if needed to make it work again. They don't call it permanent.
