I made a backup image of my Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I then explored the content of the iso image using UltraISO, I see 3 folders: $SystemUpdate, AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS. Now this is a Wave 4 game, I used ppf-o-matic and the file; v14-15.ppf to patch to Wave 2 to get another iso image. Now when I explore this iso image, I get the $SystemUpdate a the only folder, then I see lots of individual files with .bik format, .ff format, .xex format & .pak format. Did I patch to Wave 2 correctly, when I try to burn with imgburn, I get a write error at 76%. The dual-layer DVD surface has very little scratch on it, so I wanna try later with another blank dual-layer DVD. I need to know if there is a mistake somewhere with my patching and need to verify if the burning problem is due to the iso image of the blank dual-layer DVD I was using. Thanks
Secondly, I check my dashboard version through console settings and I saw version number was something like 2.0.8507. I am not on Xbox Live. I just downloaded the latest version and I've formatted my USB flashdrive and I put the extracted $SystemUpdate folder in the root of the USB flash drive. Now before I update, I want to knoe the risks involved. Will updating affect my console from reading backups? Are they any risks involved for modded Xbox 360 elite? Please advice. Thanks.

It is safe to update, it won't affect you're ability to play backups.
After patching assassins creed 2 (also wave 4)to wave 2 i get two folders, video_ts and audio_ts.
