I'm about to get one of these thing, but does it really worth it? Does it really reduce the heat of the 360 and prolong its lifetime use? Would I be able to use it vertically? Because I have my 360 stand vertically.
Thanks.

No, it makes your 360 warmer and makes it blow up. Shards of it will fly everywhere, and you will probably die instantly, the next day.

I remember these things having problems for years. A lot of people reported it either shortening out their Xbox and/or cooler, or burning the inside connections of the cooler itself.
This thing is just a gimmick, don't buy it. If you have a big enough hard drive (120GB model), then just install your games instead assuming you've updated to the new NXE. It's way more quiet and colder that way. Also try to vacume around the holes/vents frequently to increase airflow. Just take good care of it and it will last.
If you?re really paranoid maybe get a laptop cooling fan/pad/station.
You probably know that the 360 heats up more when placed vertically, plus you have the risk of scratching your disks. And don't put it on carpet.

Definitely not. I've heard of the old ones destroying Xboxs because of their terrible engineering. They used to draw power from the Xbox, and since it was so cheaply made, sometime they would short out the Xbox and i've even seen some burnt motherboards due to these things. The new ones run off of external power, but I still don't trust it. Besides, it can ruin the fans inside your Xbox since they are basically being blocked off by another obstructure.
Jeeze, Intercooler must be banking off the RROD, even though the only Xboxs that get them consistently are the old ones from 4 years ago..
If your warranty is already voided, you could throw in some better fans if you are really worried. Otherwise, I wouldn't touch it.

That was from January 2007, afaik that problem has been fixed. But I would also agree not to get one, they're really loud. If your xbox is out of warranty you're better off getting a talismoon whisper max. If it's under warranty leave it, let ms worry about it.

waste of money, just buy an aftermarket fan to go internally if you are that concerned about it.

Well, I got my 360 on march of 2008, I think it is the falcon chip, I don't need the intercooler right?
