Optiarc 7173A burner - games dont work....

Optiarc 7173A (firmware 1-02)

Burns OK but wont play. Using Verbatim DL.

Previously had a Sony burner and this worked fine.

Do I need to do anything special (i.e. update the firmware) for this drive to produce workable XBOX360 copies?

Update the firmware to 1.04 and try again. Also, if you're burning with ImgBurn (which is the best program to use IMO), leave the Verify box checked and post the ImgBurn log when the burn is complete.

Yeh. Thats was my next plan to update the firmware.

Yep. Use Imgburn. Note, it burns and verifies ok at the moment though....

Do you have a friend with a flashed 360, so you can see if the games you're burning work on their console?

Have you tried running a burned disc through abgx360 to see if it checks out OK?

I've got games that I burnt on my old PC that work ok on my xbox, so it looks like my xbox is still playing copies (I did think it might be that).

It looks like its not playing games burnt with my current burner thats all.

I'll have a look at abgxbox360 - never heard of that.

Mate of mine took the drive out one day took it away to flash the firmware and then put it back in.

You probably have old firmware. You need to update to the most current. LT plus 1.1 for most drives or LT for samsungs. Make sure your dash is current as well or games won't boot.
