Just got a couple Benqs in the mail as I wanted to start ripping my games with proper SSv2 angles. I've been using a couple Kreons v1, ripping my games at an average of 12x-16x with only SSv1 so when I flashed my Benq with 0800 I expected similar reading speeds.

My Benq is maxing out at 1.6x! That makes a game backup take about an 1 hour and 15 minutes. Now, if I really had to wait that long, whatever...just going to take a long time to back up my library.

The setup:
Currently using my xbox as the power source (kind of a pain for now) connected directly to the onboard SATA. I removed my VIA Raid card, uninstalled all software/drivers since I was having trouble during the flashing. I haven't tried schtrom, I've just been using XBC. The only thing currently connected to my XP Pro system, a Dimension 3100 PC is 1 IDE Hardrive, 1 SATA Storage Drive, and SATA Benq 0800.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Try running DMAble which you can download from here. My Kreon drive used to be the same. It's because the drive changes from Ultra DMA mode to PIO Mode. You can change it in hardware manager on the channel which your device is located, but with me it wouldn't and it was stuck as PIO... -_-' If I remember rightly, it does this because the drive is struggling to read the media and Windows changes the settings...? o.0 Look it up! XP

This software works a treat, so I would suggest that. If it doesn't work, then I'm out... >.<

By BenQ takes around 12-15 minutes. Maxing out at around 8x I believe. I am saving it to a SATA hard drive though.

Maybe try ripping with Schtrom 4.1.

Thanks...I'll give it a shot

@leerage
Yeah, haven't tried schtrom in a while, I'll give that a go as well. I save my images to a 750gb sata drive...with the kreons it took 10-12 minutes, but they spun up there pretty good...14-16x.
